Finding Peace in a World That Never Slows Down

Not every phase of life asks us to move forward. Some quietly ask us to slow down, pause and feel what we often ignore.

Somewhere in that quiet pause, I found myself drawn to the world of Studio Ghibli.

I’ve watched several of their films, but a few have stayed with me more than others. Kiki’s Delivery Service, Only Yesterday, The Secret World of Arrietty, When Marnie Was There, My Neighbor Totoro and Howl’s Moving Castle are at the top of my list, and I hope to watch more.

Not because they are dramatic or intense, but because they are quietly beautiful.

They remind us that joy can exist in small moments, that peace does not have to be complicated, and that slowing down is sometimes enough.

What makes them even more special is the effort behind them. The beautiful scenery, the soft and unforgettable music, and the simple yet meaningful characters all come together in a way that feels natural and real. Without trying too hard, they stay with you long after the film ends.

What touched me most was not just the stories, but the feeling they create.

The soft music, the stillness, and the simple everyday scenes felt like a gentle pause.

I truly love traveling, exploring new places, discovering beautiful scenery, and wandering through hilly landscapes and mountain paths. There is something special about a quiet walk surrounded by nature, the charm of cobblestone streets, flower-filled fountains in town squares, the smell of freshly baked treats from a small local bakery, or a breathtaking view of a lake or the ocean from a hillside road.

Those experiences have taught me to appreciate both adventure and stillness. In many ways, Studio Ghibli captures that same feeling. Its stories remind me that beauty can be found not only in extraordinary places, but also in ordinary moments that often pass unnoticed.

Watching these films felt like a gentle journey of their own, one that encouraged me to slow down, look more carefully, and reconnect with the simple things that bring peace and joy.

As I was finishing this article, I came across the news that BBC Studios is developing a live action television adaptation ofΒ Kiki’s Delivery Service. It made me smile because it reminded me that these gentle stories continue to inspire people around the world. I’m looking forward to watching the series while continuing to explore more of Studio Ghibli’s timeless stories.

I realized something important through this.

We all find peace in different ways.

For some, it is traveling.
For others, it is music or quiet moments.

For me, in this phase of life, it came from these simple and magical stories.

There is also a quiet strength in taking care of ourselves first. Finding what calms our mind and gives us space to breathe is important, because only then can we truly be present for our family, our work, and everything else that matters.

I feel like I am living between two worlds. One is real, busy, fast, and full of noise. And the other feels like something out of a Ghibli film, slow, quiet, and full of unnoticed magic. Maybe nothing around me has changed. But the way I see things has.

Yes, maybe it sounds simple. Maybe even a little childish. But that is where its beauty lies. In a world that is always asking us to be strong, fast, and perfect, choosing to be calm, gentle, and present can be powerful.

For me, that calm came from somewhere unexpected. From a story. From a song. From a quiet animated world that felt more real than I imagined.

And in that world, I found something I needed the most. A little peace. A little hope. And a reminder that even the smallest moments can still feel like magic.

Through this experience, I came to understand something deeper. Don’t forget yourself while taking care of everything around you. Find your peace and your strength in whatever way works for you. It may look different for everyone, but what matters is that it keeps you alive in a positive and meaningful way.
