Uzma Horizons

Summer holidays always give me a chance to slow down from my daily routine and spend more time doing the things I enjoy. This year, I wanted my holiday to be a little different. Along with spending time outdoors, I decided to return to a few creative hobbies that I had not enjoyed for many years. I started colouring again, bought a painting book, and finally found the perfect time to build the LEGO Flower Bouquet that my daughter had given me as a birthday gift. Looking back, these simple activities became some of the most enjoyable moments of my summer.

Although it had been many years since I last built LEGO, it never felt unfamiliar. Years ago, building LEGO was something I enjoyed with my children, so opening the box felt like reconnecting with a happy part of our family life. Living in Denmark, where LEGO is such an important part of the country’s culture and childhood memories, made the experience feel even more special.

One of the first things I noticed was how thoughtfully everything was packed. I really appreciated that the LEGO pieces came in paper bags instead of plastic, which felt like a more environmentally friendly option. The instructions were easy to follow, the colours were beautiful, and every flower was designed with so much detail. It reminded me why LEGO has remained popular with both children and adults for generations.

As I started building each flower, happy memories from years ago slowly returned. My daughters loved building LEGO Friends, colourful houses and many other imaginative sets. My son enjoyed building LEGO Technic, Star Wars models, cars, aeroplanes, spaceships, Creator sets and many other creations. Every child had different interests, but they all shared the same excitement whenever a new LEGO box was opened.

Many evenings were spent searching for tiny pieces together, helping each other and celebrating every finished model. Even today, I still keep many of their LEGO sets and old toys carefully packed away. They are much more than toys to me. They remind me of a very happy time when our home was often filled with colourful LEGO bricks and creative little projects.

As I continued building my bouquet, I quietly played Studio Ghibli music in the background. It made the whole experience even more relaxing. I became completely absorbed in building each flower, one piece at a time. Before I realised it, several hours had passed. Even after so many years, I still enjoyed building LEGO just as much as I used to.

When I finished the bouquet, I realised how much I had missed this creative hobby. Building LEGO felt just as enjoyable as I remembered. Every flower was different, and watching the bouquet slowly come together was one of the most satisfying parts of the experience.

The pink rose bouquet quickly became my favourite, not only because of its beautiful design but because it was a thoughtful birthday gift from my daughter. It has a special place in my heart, and every time I look at it, I remember the love behind the gift.

The more flowers I completed, the more I enjoyed the experience. After finishing the bouquet, I decided to build two more small LEGO flower sets during my summer holiday. Each one had its own colours and design, and I looked forward to watching every new flower take shape.

My children were happy to see that Mama was enjoying a creative activity again.
My younger daughter still enjoys building LEGO flowers and has already created two lovely flower pots and a small bouquet. My elder daughter has also been inspired and is planning to build a LEGO flower set soon. It makes me happy to see that creativity is still part of our family, with everyone enjoying it in their own way.

One of the funniest moments came after I had finished building my flowers. My husband and son started picking them up, pretending to give flowers to each other and teasing me. They were simply having fun, but after spending so many relaxing hours carefully building every flower, I became quite protective of them. They were behaving like playful boys, while I was quietly making sure none of my flowers lost a petal. Looking back, it still makes me smile.

Building LEGO flowers reminded me how much I enjoy creative hobbies and making things with my own hands. It became one of my favourite summer activities.

I have decided to keep my LEGO flowers together as a small collection, and I already know I would love to add more bouquets in the future.

I never imagined that opening one LEGO Flower Bouquet would bring back so many happy family memories. What began as a thoughtful birthday gift from my daughter became one of my favourite summer activities. Every time I look at these flowers, I know they will remind me of a summer that I truly enjoyed.
